:: BIOGRAPHY OF SHIHAN ROGER TYKAC ::
In 1974 Shihan Roger J. Tykac first started karate training in Kyokushin with
Sensei Schroeder. In 1978 he began training with Parks Acadamy in Tae
Kwon Do and received his 1st Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do in 1980.
In 1984 he started teaching Kyokushin at Judo-No-Kata II with Mat Elliot at
North Bowl Lanes. Shihan Tykac joined the Sheboygan School of Self
Defense to teach Kyokushin with Sensei Dan Cykana at Lakeshore Lanes
in 1987.
In 1988 Shihan Tykac traveled to Orlando Florida and met Shihan Richard
C. Kelley who, at the time, was training in Motobu-Ha Shito Ryu, and was
affiliated with Hanshi Joe Ruiz and the International Karate Kubudo Union
(IKKU). Not long after meeting and training with Shihan Kelley, Shihan
Tykac joined the (IKKU) and opened his own Dojo on Indiana Avenue in
Sheboygan, WI, to teach Motobu-Ha Shito-Ryu in 1991.
In 1993 Shihan Tykac left the IKKU and joined Shihan Kelley's organization,
Kita Kaze Bujustu Kai. On December 25th, 1996, there was a fateful fire,
and the building in which Shihan Tykac's Dojo was located burned to the
ground. Shihan Tykac lost everything in his Dojo. In a few months, Shihan
Tykac's family and dedicated students and families helped him open a
new even larger Dojo where it is located now, on North 8th Street,
Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The Grand Opening was held on February 1st,
1997.
Today, Shihan Roger J. Tykac is a Godan in the Shito-Ryu style of karate
and continues to faithfully teach and share his valuable skills and
knowledge of the martial arts with his students, young and old.
